Greed in "Godfather Death"

In Godfather Death, written by the Grimm brothers, greed is what led the main character to his demise. Death makes his terms very clear to the main character. In the story, Death says "But beware of using the herb against my will, or it might fare ill with you" (Grimm). Later in the story, the main character became very wealthy as he was the most famous physician in the world. However, multiple opportunities were presented to him that he could have benefitted greatly from. One of them was the opportunity to marry the kings daughter and inherit the crown. However, in order to achieve this, he had to go against Deaths command.
As a result, Death became angry with him and took his life. If the man were happy with his initial wealth, he would have gotten to live a full life with it. This is an example of greed taking its toll on those who are affected by it.
