Reflection
This class has taught me many things such as what to look for when reading a piece of literature, and how to make a statement and support it. When reading literature, the first things that come to mind before I begin reading are questions such as "Who wrote this piece?" and "When was it written?" Searching for the answers to these questions as I read help me to grasp a better understanding of what I am reading. I also never make an argument or statement without any evidence to support it. If I do not have any evidence, then my argument is invalid.
Similarly, when reading poems, I need to inspect every word of every line in order to really figure out how that word is being used. This is important as some words can be used in multiple ways with multiple meanings. This is particularly useful in the poem Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, which we covered in class this semester.
What I enjoyed most about this class is how it influenced the way I think outside of class. It does this by making me want to further investigate things. By investigating, I have more confidence when having a conversation with somebody because I now know all the facts that are necessary.
